Dear Diary:
Last weekend, my friend Chloe suggested we go on a shopping spree. I'm always up for buying something new and adding to my already bulging closet. Chloe got a notice that My Attic at The Deck had some exceptional items for truly reasonable prices, provided by skillful designers. The Theme was "Pop Music" and as we are both big music fans, we decided to see what was there. Well...we broke the bank!!
Chloe bought this fun prop with colour changeable walls, stripes and wording. Of course we tried out all the possible colour combinations. Every record has several poses and we tested them completely too. You could have two other friends join you for a great photo op.
I'm a little more outgoing than Chloe so I chose neon hair to go with my rockin' outfit. The outfit comes with four colour choices for the sequin top. It even has the torn nylons. She picked an equally cool dress that is really impressive. It comes in a variety of shades and patterns and I think I'm going back to pick one of them up. She was daring enough to get a hair do with streaks [hehehe]. Our purchases were fantastic for a one-stop-shop. We had a blast!
Drop into My Attic if you get a chance to see all the clothes, hair, and two amazing props. There's only a few days left since it closes February 28th.
Good Night for Now.
All from My Attic:
On Chloe:
Hair: ploom Rene (candy)
Dress: DCNY Pop Princess Collection Candy Cutie
On Me:
Hair: Mina Hair (Spice)
Skirt, top and jacket: Stellar Gwen set (purple)

Lyndhurst Plum Has Attitude
Dear Diary:
"Lyndhurst Plum", as a colour name, sounded so elegant. I looked at my formal gowns, searched the closet for any demure cocktail dress, and shopped for the perfect two-piece outfit. I didn't pick any of them. I decided that this colour deserved something a little more edgy.
I loved this colour combination. Wish I had this dress in my first world.
Good Night for now.

A Warm Afternoon Post
Dear Diary:
I usually try to write something significant to you after I come home from work. I change into some comfortable clothes, open the blinds to let in the sun, and sit at my desk in front of the computer. Before I put my thoughts to paper, I look to see what's new in the world. Today, an interesting paragraph, on technology, caught my eye.
Last year, it was estimated that about 33 million people use a tablet in place of their other computers. To me, that seemed to be a high number but the article stated it was going to triple by 2014. That got me thinking - why?
I like my desktop and laptop. There's something secure about having substantial pieces of computer, for me that is. Alright, a tablet is only one piece and of course very mobile. I used to argue that the keyboard on a tablet wasn't user friendly but it seems to have improved. I guess I'm just going to have to give in to change. Star Trek has become real!
Good Night for now.
I'm wearing:
Sweater: HK n6 mesh loose sweater (free on SL Marketplace)
Leggings: en Svale leggings (dot) (gift)
Feet: Gos Boutique (barefeet arched)
Pose in desk and chair: MMG desk and chair

The Twisted Colour Challenge combination was very spring-like this week. I loved the combination of the pale green and pinky coral. It made me think that spring was just around the corner.

這是蛇年
Dear Diary:
Today marks the Year of the Snake in the Chinese calendar so I thought it was appropriate to dress accordingly for the Twisted Colour Challenge.
I've always had a interest for snakes but have never actually had one for a pet. As a kid, I liked to catch garter snakes in the summer. They're harmless but when one bit me on the finger, I decided to get a new past time.
If you were born in a Snake year, you are said to have a charming personality. You communicate well and don't ramble when speaking. You are very determined to finish any goals you've set and hate to leave things unfinished.
On the other side, you tend to overdo things. You rely on yourself too often and won't ask for help as you have doubts about other's judgement. You can be headstrong.

Putting the Penny out to Pasture
Dear Diary:
As of last Monday, Canada has retired the penny from circulation. Over the coming years, the Royal Canadian Mint will be collecting them for melting and recycling the metal content.
Why get rid of the one-cent coin? It was costing about 1.6 cents each to manufacture. By eliminating them, the savings to the government will be substantial.
Retailers have a choice to accept or refuse the discontinued coin. If they refuse, they will have to round the amount of purchase up, or round the total down to the nearest five or ten cent increment [Hmmm....wonder if that will be to the benefit of the buyer?] Electronic purchases, online or through a card will still be billed to the cent. So I'm taking my pennies to the nearest bank as quickly as possible, here at Seraph City.
It's rumoured the five cent coin, the nickel, will soon follow and roll its way into extinction too. I've got to start digging through my pockets and emptying my purse of all those coins.
Good Night for now.

Jeans: Pixie Dolls Basic Jeans (dust)
Boots: Shiny Things Ribbon boots

A New Store To Me #2
Dear Diary:
A few weeks ago I was flitting around from place to place, not really looking for anything in particular when I came upon a new store that had only been open a few weeks. The store is called, Mutresse, owned by Eeky Cioc.
Right now the store only has a small inventory but what is there I really like. Eeky has wedge-heeled boots and jackets with mix or match pants. They come in a variety of colours, from dark and basic, to more spring-like hues, a total of 15 different colours. At that time, I bought a pair of charcoal boots that I used in a previous post. What I liked best about the boots was the detail. The laces went through grommets and then tied. The detail was very well done. On my second visit, I bought a jacket and matching pants to give a tailored suit look.
The jacket is loose fitting and drapes nicely over a blouse or sweater. I particularly like the pants, since there are different options for the leg. Pants can be worn for higher heels or flats. This is wonderful as you often want to have the ability to wear different shoes with your outfit. There's a crease in the leg and "wear" folds that look so real. I really like the way the mesh items fit me. I know most designers offer several standard sizes but I like my shape the way I am and don't want to vary it too much.
I'm looking forward to seeing more items in the store, with the same exceptional quality.
Good Night for now.
From Mutresse:
Jacket: Simona jacket (Primrose Yellow)
Pants: Simona trousers (Primrose Yellow)
Other items:
Blouse: Coco Sleeveless blouse (white)
Shoes: Aleida Natalie croco pumps (gold) (no longer available)
Hat: NYU Cashmere Tweed cap (light brown) (L'Accessories)
Pose: Olive Juice (no longer available)
Location: City of Charm subway

We're on a Rink Watch
Dear Diary:
I'm from Canada and in my part, the winters are cold, windy and full of snow. HA!!! Not this year. Until the last few days, the year has been a lot warmer, windy at times and very little snow.
When I was a kid, I always loved to skate on a back yard rink or on the lake. The ice was crystal clear, sometimes bumpy but being outside offered the best surroundings.
But with the change of weather, the outside rinks are melting and most lakes are not safe to walk on, let alone skate on. Therefore a website has been started to keep track and inform people of the condition of outdoor rinks, not just this year but for the future. It has been predicted by some that the future of these rinks is definitely in jeopardy due to weather changes.
The website is RinkWatch. You can create an account for yourself and enter information on your rink, or a neighbourhood rink where you might skate. The site has other information listed also - a map showing rinks that have already been listed, the ability to check on the name and information for each rink and an explanation of why RinkWatch was created. There are several rinks listed from the United States too.
If you get a chance, check out this website. It's really interesting to follow and shows how the environment can make an impact.
Of course, in my second world, I could do my jumps and twirls on absolutely perfect ice, in perfect weather, in a perfect location. Winter Valley Park provides beautiful winter scenery, free skates if you don't have them and couples skating. I had a great afternoon.
Good Night for now.
I'm wearing:
Sweater: Izzie's Norwegian turtleneck pullover (red/black/white)

Mitts: RenderR fur mitts (no longer available)
Skates: Jazzitude Red Nordic Leg Warmer skates (also SL Marketplace)
Poses: KaTink (ballet)
Location: Winter Valley Park

Glory Be! A New Colour Challenge!
Dear Diary:
My dreams have come true! While leaping through the feeds the other day, I spied a colour challenge! This one is going to be superb test to my shopping and co-ordinating skills. Sookie Triellis has started the "Twisted Colour Challenge", involving a combination of two colours. I like this concept. It will make it interesting to see the different ways the colours can be put together.
I'm coming into the Challenge at week 4 so I'm a little behind but I think it will be a lot of fun.

A New Store To Me #1
Dear Diary:
I admit...I'm at a loss...ever since Luna Jubilee ended the second part of the Colour Challenge. I looked forward to the challenge of finding that obscure colour every week. I keep checking back on her website to see if she's had a change of heart or has come up with some new magical challenge for us.
So having suffered anxiety over the lack of exercising my brain, I decided to try and challenge myself. I decided to try and look for new stores on the grid and post something that I would purchase. Now these stores may not be new to you, my readers, but they will be new to me.
The first store I found was "Jugg and Jinga's Boutique". The store offers a good variety of clothes for both men and women. There are not a lot of mesh clothes available if that's what interests you. The clothes range from formal gowns to casual pants and tops, with a good selection in between that can be dressed up or down. There is a small choice of jewelry sets, earrings with matching necklace. Also in the store, you'll find some interesting pictures on the wall, not all original, and some Tiffany style floor lamps.
I took a brief look at the men's section and there's a broad array of clothing there too, with a very prominent display of men's thongs!

I picked a cute flowery dress that looks great by itself or over leggings. Along with it, I'm wearing flower earrings and necklace that I picked up at the same time. Can you tell I'm looking forward to spring?

Time for Another - "Let's Get Rid of That Word!!"
Dear Diary:
It's the time of year when Lake Superior State University publishes their should-be-banished word list. Words that are often overused or misused in the language are suggested for elimination in our everyday speech. I looked back at my post last year and still hear those fingers-down-the-blackboard-words used. Here are some words from 2013 list:
I'm really tired of listening to the news and hear what interesting fact or item "is trending". I don't think "trending" is a verb so why do we keep using it as such?

I looked back at my post last year and still hear those fingers-down-the-blackboard-words used. Here are some words from 2013 list:

Here's the problem with the word "guru". It's used for everyone who is considered an expert in their field. The LSSU website has a good quote "Unless you're teaching transcendental meditation, Hinduism or Buddhism, please don't call yourself a guru!" How true is that!

I'm really tired of listening to the news and hear what interesting fact or item "is trending". I don't think "trending" is a verb so why do we keep using it as such?
First of all I don't really like boneless wings. They seem to be a little yucky and mushy. Secondly, don't wings have bones? So...I think this is an oxymoron...or a mixed up phrase. It should be put back with the rest of the chicken.
YOLO aka You Only Live Once is often used on Twitter but I haven't seen it used that often in an email. I've entered some other internet abbreviations that are just about as annoying. Yes, I use them often myself but sometimes I'm not even sure what some of the new ones mean.
Good Night for now.

Celebrating The Twelve Days of Christmas
Dear Diary:
The "Twelve Days of Christmas" is more than a song that I used to like singing as a kid. However, most of North America no longer celebrates these festivities except in song.
The twelve days of celebration begins on Christmas day and continues until the evening of January 5th. Often gifts are exchanged on this night. In some traditions, Epiphany usually follows the day after, on January 6th.
In the Middle Ages, it was continuous feasting until January 5th, which then signalled the end of the Christmas season. So while sitting here, checking out my wall hanging, indicating each day of the song, I'm still eating my way through the season. After all, it isn't January 5th for a few more days. Right?

Happy New Year To You All!
Dear Diary:
Here it is!! On the brink of another year!! 2013 already!! I can't believe how fast this year has gone. I'm so lucky and so grateful for the loving family I have; for the wonderful friends I have in both my worlds; and, for the people who read my rantings and ravings.
My wish for all of you is a happy, healthy and peaceful year wherever we are, whatever world we're in, however we choose to live it.
Good Night for now.

Here I Am... Amazon Woman
Dear Diary:
Well, this is the end of Luna's Colour Challenge Part Deux and I'm very sad that it's finished. It's been so much fun looking for the obscure colour, putting together a great outfit, and emptying my bank account for just the right thing. I'll certainly miss this every week.
So far there doesn't seem to be any plans for a new Challenge but I'm hoping Luna will have an epiphany and decide to do another Challenge soon, colour or not.
Good Night for now.

It's Madder Lake Deep
Dear Diary:
Sometimes the names of colours for the Challenge just blow me away! Where do they come from anyway? Is this really the name of a colour? So I just had to find out about this name. I did learn that Madder Lake is a "bluish red, transparent pigment produced from alizarin red. It's used to make stains and inks and as a component of artists' oil colours". So it is really a colour-name and I love it! The colour is very festive and perfect for the beginning of holiday parties.
I also found out that Madder Lake was an Australian band from the '70's. Hear them here. Nice peppy music just like the colour.

Another Week of Advent Calendar Goodies
Dear Diary:
I've had another great week of enjoying my finds at the Advent Calendars I've chosen to follow this year.
The Christmas scene from Dreamscape's Art Gallery contains everything [and more] that could be found in my living room. The chair has 18 different sitting animations for male or female. Assorted "pets", including a little grey mouse, provide company. The Santa hat over the chair shows who has been visiting the house. A great set to take some Christmas pictures.
The lingerie I'm wearing has been discreetly covered by my position but the jewelry shines through. My inventory is growing drastically each day.
Good Night for now.
From Mint Tulip:
Eye makeup: Elymode eye shadow and liner (red)
Lingerie: Elymode bra & undies (red)
Earrings: Alice Project snowflake earrings
Necklace: Perception candy cane necklace (silver)
From KittyCats Winterland:
Headband: /*qbee Holiday Headband (pointsettia)
2nd necklace: Je Suis chouette necklace (purple)

All That is GOLD Does not Glitter [J.R.R. Tolkien]
Dear Diary:
The colour for the Challenge this week is one of my favourites. I have lots of this colour in my closet in both my worlds. So, in the spirit of the holiday season, I had to dress up. Gold jewelry is also a favourite and I only wish I had more of that. Of course, "gold" is often quoted in many profound sayings so here are a few:
"Silence is golden when you can't think of a good answer"
[Muhammad Ali]
"Wisdom is better than silver or gold"
[Bob Marley lyrics]
"An inch of time cannot be bought with an inch of gold"
[Chinese Proverb]
And my favourite quote -
"You may have a heart of gold -- but so does a hard-boiled egg!"
[Unknown]
Good Night for now.

I'm Looking for the Advent Calendars
Dear Diary:
At this time of year, I enjoy picking a couple of Advent Calendars to follow. This year I started with the Mint Tulip sim. In that shopping mall, there are four stores participating - Exposeur, Alice Project, Elymode and Perception. Exposeur has given out poses, for male and female, with mirrored versions too. If you collect all the gifts from Elymode, you'll have a complete outfit, along with some makeup. Alice Project and Perception have given out cute jewelry, along with other gifts.
Then I flew over to the KittyCats Winterland Calendar. They have items from a variety of designers who are gifting impressive presents. The Calendar is right at the landing point and you can retrieve back days too.
The other morning I received a notice that Cleom Bailey, of Just my Imagination has an Advent Calendar in the store also so I had to pick up the cute and often unusual gifts there as well.
Here are a few items from just a couple of days:
It's always fun to open a present to see what's inside. I found some really interesting things. Take a look on your travels.
Good Night for now.
From Mint Tulip:
Tee: Elymode Snowflake top
Eye Makeup: Elymode shadow and liner (blue)
Hair: Alice Project Hyori Christmas
From KittyCatS Winterland:
Prop: True North Designs Tigger Plop with 5 poses (also comes with smaller version)
From Just My Imagination
Cup: Holly Day mug

I Love Cotton Candy
Dear Diary:
Pink - any shade of - is not my favourite colour. But I do like cotton candy.
I always loved going to the circus when I was young. Not because I enjoyed the animals or the rides but because I got to eat cotton candy. I liked to watch when the coloured sugar was added to the container, the machine started whirling around, and finally the sugar was spun into a pink airy piece of fluff that I picked away at. Then my Mom would make me brush my teeth extra long when I got home.
Good Night for now.
