Today Celebrate Everything Coffee

Dear Diary:

Today is National Coffee Day and it's a day close to my heart.  I love a nice cup of coffee, in the morning, to wake my up and at night to put me to sleep.  Several of our main coffee shops are celebrating by offering specials today.  Starbucks offered a thumbs up on Instagram but no free coffee but Dunkin' Donuts is.  Tim Horton's has this to say about Coffee Day.

According to the Huffington Post, Canadians consume about 2.8 cups of coffee a day so I'm waaaay above the average.

Go out and enjoy a nice cup before the day ends.

Good Night for now.

You Need a New Outfit When You Visit

Dear Diary:

I was looking for somewhere new to go to the other day and I saw an ad for Hesperia Templemore.  The blurb mentioned "live music" which I always like so I decided to fly out and have a look.  Ooops...but I thought I'd better get some new things since nothing in my closet seem to appeal to me.  I thought I'd look around some of the shopping events and settled on Kustom9 where I found lots.

I bought two different hair styles and am wearing the one from monso.  It has a pretty style that frames the face and streaks that look natural.  I tried my hand at the gacha machines at Cocoroni, for the hoodie and Soy, for the headphones.  I love the ripped look of the jeans from Addams but it also comes with a plain pair so literally 2 for 1!!  Kustom9 ends October 10th so you have time to do some shopping.

Hesperia Templemore is a very interesting sim.  I didn't catch a live show but spent an hour just walking.  The buildings have great texture and added touches like the sign I'm standing in front of.  Road ways and sidewalks are designed with sophisticated patterns.

Visit both places if you get a chance.

Good Night for now.

I'm wearing from Kustom9:
Hair: monso My Hair Yoni
Hoodie: Cocoroni Hoodie gacha (light pink)
Jeans: Addams Lixie Ripped Skinny Jeans and chain belt (magenta)
Headphones: Soy SMPL headphone gacha (navy)

Pose (not from Kustom9): Ilaya

It's The "Read Anywhere" Option

Dear Diary:

I was reading an article from The Wall Street Journal the other day that really peaked my interest.  It stated that "it’s not the e-reader that will be driving future books sales, it’s the phone".

The article stated that many people who liked to read often didn't have the time or ability to sit down with a book (hard cover or paperback) or with an e-reader, to read the latest in stories.  When confronted with these obstacles, they went to their phone, being light, compact and always available.

The article told the story of a young man, feeding his baby at 3am.  He realized it was easy reading on his dimly lit phone with one hand.  He could read when he was able, put it away then continue on at the next available time.

Now book publishers are thinking about the way books are designed, marketed and sold with the smaller screens in mind.  Cell phones have improved over the years in size and with much clearer, brighter screens.  And the phones are very convenient for reading a book, whether you're riding the bus or standing in line to check out your  groceries.

The news story cited that the number of people who read primarily on phones has risen to 14% in 2015 from 9% three years ago.  I've tried reading on my phone, and while it is very handy, I will do it if I have to but I still like a book.

Good Night for now.

Thinking About My Wonderful Summer

Dear Diary:

It seems that as soon as Labour Day is here and gone, my summer turns into fall.  So the other day, in the late afternoon, I sat out on my deck and thought about how the summer came and went so quickly.

I spent the summer just the way I wanted to.  I worked for the early part but managed to take some days off to be able to enjoy our very short but lovely summer.  I did have vacation time but didn't do much during those weeks either.  I put a small vegetable garden in this year, which was totally odd for me.  I love flowers but don't particularly care for the veggies.  However, I planted beans, peas, a few carrots and beets and was very surprised at how well they did.  I have managed to have a few suppers using the results from my garden.  So I guess vegetables aren't that bad after all.

I do like a certain routine in my life so I'm glad to be back to looking after my first life and my second world.  It's wonderful to have holidays and lead a serene life but it's great to have the hustle and bustle back too.

Good Night for now.

I Love the Vintage Look

Dear Diary:

I had the chance to fly into the Vintage Fair today.  I love the '20's to '60's look and when I spotted this dress, I knew I had to have it.

The dress by Dead Dollz, is a knock-out!  It comes in a variety of colours and it was really hard to choose a hue that I wanted.  I always go for black so I decided to pick the green colour and I was very pleased with it.  The top gives the illusion of a very sheer tulle with intricate beading on the bodice and sleeves.  The bow is optional but I felt it added to the look of the dress.  Unfortunately, the dress is only made for the Maitreya body.

I felt the look of the dress was Fortyish although the skirt is a bit short for that.  But I wanted to achieve that decade so the Olivia hair from enVOGUE added to the setting.

The Vintage Fair is only on for a few more days so make sure you swoop out to see all the amazing things there.

Good Night for now.

I'm wearing from The Vintage Fair:
Lipstick: MUA Lipstick Vol 2 (tangerine)
Dress: Dead Dollz Astra (petroleum)
Hair: enVOGUE Olivia
Shoes: Essenz San Marino (cream)

It's Time To Return To Real Life

Dear Diary:

Ah yes!  Coming back from vacation means returning to real life.  Never mind entering a stuffy house; sorting through the endless papers; or emptying the sour milk in the fridge, it's what you encounter when you get back to work.
