"You're only as good as your last haircut!" said Susan Lee

Dear Diary:

Yeah...I'm a hair whore!  I know it!  I can't get a notice about new hair without checking it out.  I can't pass one of my favourite shops without peeking in.  I can't see someone on the street and not ask where they got the GREAT do.  I'm just hopeless when it comes to spending on hair.  SOOOOO...when I got the notice that Truth Hawks was having a major sale of his designs, it was all I could do to put on my sandals, grab my purse, bump up my lindens and run over to see what I could buy.  Here are four I just picked up.

Kalista is so funky!  I love the way the cut is uneven, making the hair look full and bouncy.  It swings crazily when dancing or walking.  The cut is the same length all the way round so the back is about the same length as the sides, even though it looks shorter.  Great look!  It also comes streaked so I have the versatility of looking punky when I want to.

I love this look for summer.  It makes me feel cool in this hot weather that's upon us.  The bangs fall neatly across the forehead, out of the way of your eyes.  The double wrapped headband holds the hair back from the face and lies casually back of the ears and surrounds the nape of the neck.  I like how the curls fall over the band.  The headband is colour changeable too. This style can be worn as a retro do also.

Julia is cute.  It can be worn for casual outfits or with a cocktail dress. It also comes in streaked colours.  I like the way it's poofy on top.  Hair accessories can be added quite easily to this style.  The back is caught up in a casual pony tail.  It gives the illusion of being short until you turn around.

A similar style to Kalista, Joanna is a more tailored shorter version.  Again, I love the frowsy look to the hair.  It gives it a bounciness and "just out of the shower" look.  The bobby pins on the side really add to the style.

I love Truth's designs.  The hair is always stylish with a great variety of colours and it always fits well.  The styles are very current and can be seen in hair magazines.  Prices are reasonable at all times, but now, being half off lets me spend more.  Sale ends September 3 so I do have time to go back again...and again...and ummm...maybe even again.

Good Night for now.

Sometimes I like to sit and think

Dear Diary:

I was just thinking about something my Grandmother used to tell me.  She would say, "Dear, whenever you wear a black dress, always put on your best pearls with it.  Pearls always look good with a black dress.  That way you will always look elegant!"  I listened to her talk but didn't really pay attention since I wasn't at the age where pearls appealed to me.  But lately I've realized she was right.
This little black dress is really cute.  I love the chiffon overlay and the detail put into the neckline. The skirt is short but having the chiffon swish around it lends itself to be quite " cocktailish".  I did add simple pearl earrings and necklace and it did look elegant...and classy...and sexy.  I always like bracelets so I had to put a pearl one on too.  I tried it...and I like it.  I guess Grandma knew what she was talking about.
Sometimes it's nice to look like a lady.  I like to think I can be one when I want to or when it's necessary.  My Grandmother's words ring in my ears.  I'm beginning to think her advice was always right.

Good Night for now.

Where the Wild Things are!

Dear Diary:

Today I visited a magical spot.  It was both eery and beautiful at the same time.
I landed in a clearing but stared straight into a forest of glowing red trees, with a lava waterfall.
It was a breathtaking sight.  I walked and walked...

through a shower of white roses...

to sitting in a field of purple iris...

'til I stopped for a rest on a tree stump.
 It was a perfect day!

A Visual Punch

Dear Diary:

When I went shopping this week, I bought this filmy chiffon summer dress and needed a place to wear it to.  When my travel agency, Agencia de Viagens, sent me a message encouraging a visit to "Two Fishes", I decided that this was the place to wear my new dress.  It proved to be a great suggestion and was truly a psychedelic experience in visual awareness.

Usually entrances are non-descript.  This one was fantastic from the beginning.
I landed in a glorious field of pink poppies [which complimented the colour of my dress, by the way].  The surroundings needed to be looked at with supreme attention.  There was just so much to take in.  I walked a few steps over and found a comfortable place to sit.
At the seating area, this adorable hummingbird found me and attached itself to me for the whole tour.
It was hard reading instructions with him in my face. You could visit several areas in the sim.  I landed in a tunnel and walked in to the next area.
The doves flew around and around me.  Fireflies buzzed up and down. I was just completely overwhelmed. I got lost at one point but finally found the exit.
The whole sim needs to be explored in depth.  The builder did a fantastic job. I hope everybody gets a chance to visit this location.  It's a work of art with so many diverse areas to visit.  I loved every part I saw.

Good Night for now.

Grabbing some rays!

Dear Diary:

I know in my dream world, it's perpetual summer but in my real world, summer will be coming to a close all too shortly.  So I decided to catch the last few days I could.  Of course I got a new bikini so that was just the excuse I needed to take a break from work.

I went to my favourite travel agency to see if I could get to some hot beach area and found some free beach poses, so that clenched the deal for an island location.  I flew right away into Fire Beach, a GREAT name and a GREAT area.

I came upon a huge waterfall that was very refreshing.  I stood under it and let the water cascade over me.  On a hot day that felt sooooo good.
I lay for awhile in the sun, trying to improve my mediocre tan, while trying not to burn.
Next I came face-to-face with one of the peacocks on the island.  He was rather friendly and didn't run away when I knelt in front of him.
I was sitting in the lounge chair for a bit when a stranger walked up the beach and started a conversation.  He was dressed rather warmly for the day and I asked why he wasn't in shorts.  He started to kick off his shoes at least.
By then, I'd had enough sun and thought I would fly home as it would soon be dark.
It was such a great day!  I have my fingers crossed that there will be many many more before I have to pack away the bikinis.

Good Night for now.

The Chirihama Cafe and Bakery

Dear Diary:

This morning I got up bright and early, dressed in my "Bakery best", to go to this new bakery I heard about.

Naturally I was there before it opened so I took some time to look around at the plants and garden accessories.
The outside is filled full of flowery displays that are so pleasing to look at.  I didn't mind the wait at all.  I sat on the bench and relaxed.

Mmmmm...is that the smell of fresh bread???
YAAAAAY!!  It is!!  And you know, Dear Diary, how fresh bread is my weakness.  After the wait, I needed a cup of coffee but I had to stand in line and wait for the llamas to go through.
OK fellas!  No pushing or shoving! [But don't get in between me and my coffee!!]
It was so nice sitting on the deck, looking out at the lake, sipping my coffee and thinking about the wonderful HOT bread tucked away in my shopping bag.  Hot bread...lots of butter...cheese...YUMMY!!

What a great eating day it was!  I must come back again for more.

Always sad when a store closes

Dear Diary:

I felt very sad when I heard the other day that Jill Lemon was closing the doors on her store.  She has everything on sale at 50% off.  Of course I wanted to go and pick up as much as I could but the sim was PACKED so I had to wait...and wait...and wait.  Finally I got there last night and picked up this cute dress.
The style is HOT!  I love how the lace underlay tiers under the plum overskirt.  It has a mini skirt but not short enough to be skanky.  The straps attach behind the neck instead of tying so it doesn't look so casual and lies nicely on the neck.

The back dips in a smooth arc, almost to the empire waist line.  The material pattern stands out even though this colour is a little darker than others. I also picked up some cute accessories that I can use in lots of looks.  I'm wearing the rose necklace that also comes with a matching bracelet, in two featured colours, black and white.

I got this dress at a good time.  All of a sudden I was sent some uber trendy shoes from *GField* as a group gift and they matched my dress perfectly.  How lucky was that!! The shoes are available in tons of colours, and special ones are offered for the Shoe Fair.

I'll be really sorry to see the doors at *+Jill+* close.  Jill's designs have always been current and high-end, and reasonably priced for the quality that she produces.  She has always paid attention to detail when making her outfits.  Her store has been very easy to get around and not flooded with aisles or displays.  I will truly miss shopping there.

Good Night for now.

對中國的長城

Dear Diary:
I got this cute Chinese outfit at Lika Ruby's the other day and, to do it justice, I thought I should photograph it at a Chinese site.  I picked The Great Wall of China, which is a world heritage site.  It is magnificent!  You land in a small store but when you walk through the curved doorway, you're on the Wall.

I was totally overwhelmed by the structure.  The setting is beautiful with pounding waves, greenery and the awesome building of the Wall itself.  And then it came to climbing!
The pathways take you in many different directions.  You can walk and walk and when you look below, you see the maze of the construction

I looked back over my climb and was struck by the beauty of what lay below, and of the detail that went into building this Wall. I can't say enough about the beauty that I experienced.

I climbed to the next portico and realized I was getting a little slow so it was good to turn around at that point. Going down was the easy part.
I was tired, but realized I wanted to experience more of the area.  I ended up by this Chinese skiff.  I sat beside it on the rock and let my imagination take me to that time in Chinese history.  The Great Wall covered 2,000 years of history, the majority of the build taking place in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).  It covers 5,500 miles. What a monumental accomplishment!

It was the best day!  I will certainly come back to this part of the world again...and soon.

Good Night for now.

You've Got Mail!!

Dear Diary:
Yes, email is convenient and fast and easy and functional but I love getting mail. I DO like getting an actual letter, made from actual paper, in my actual hand!!  And the other day, I was waiting for such a thing.
I just got a new mailbox, from Awesome Blossom, so I was patiently waiting for mail to be delivered.  The mailbox is so cute!!  It has an option of changing to three colours, is placed in a barrel surrounded by foliage and has 3 poses available.
Waiting....

 Waiting patiently....

Beautiful Summer Weather

Dear Diary:
I had a perfect day yesterday.  Friends were picking me up for an art gallery tour and then out for supper. I wanted to wear something casual and summery but nice enough for the evening.  I went out on my deck and my neighbour yelled, "Cute dress!"
"Thanks", I shouted back, "but I'm not sure about the colour.  Do you think I should wear the sand coloured one instead?"
"Oh that's nice too!" she replied.  "Whatever your choice is, it will look great!"  What a decision I had to make.  I really wanted to wear this dress.  I like it so much.  Well, when in turmoil, choose another.
So I ended up wearing the aqua.  I was really lucky that this cute sundress came in a pack of three.  It gave me so much versatility in my choices.  I love how it falls from the Empire waistline and the button detail down the front is so well done.  How perfect it was for my day out with friends.

Good Night for now.
