I really don't know if this is the national colour although this green seems to be represented in the flag. However, when I was looking I found a reference to the very colourful village of Portmeirion, Wales. There are many colours displayed there.
But I need to focus on the moment. Here is my Wales.
Today is the first day of summer. And as I'm looking out my window at a dull, rainy and cool day, I'm wondering exactly in what world is it really summer. AHA!! I know where I can find eternal sunshine, warm water and endless white sandy beaches. And I did.
This is also the longest day of the year in my part of the world since the sun is the farthest north it will be in the year. Potentially today I should have summery weather and sunny daylight hours. Looking out the window again...I don't think that's going to happen but it's nice thinking that I can get that type of weather when I want to.
In reality, I certainly wouldn't be jumping in the lake today, or maybe anytime soon. Give it another month for sure.

Ahhh yes. The "dog days" of summer are upon us. Generally these days are the hottest of the summer season and that's exactly what's happening in my part of the country.
In the northern hemisphere, the days fall between early July and early September. They were given this name in early times as it was believed that Sirius, the Dog Star, came too close to the sun causing hot weather. It was also thought that it was an evil time, as a quote from Clavis Calendarium (Brody) states"when the seas boiled, wine turned sour, Quinto raged in anger, dogs grew mad, and all creatures became languid, causing to man burning fevers, hysterics, and phrensies". (Wikipedia)
But luckily that isn't even a consideration now and in this beautiful weather I wanted to go to the beach one last time so I persuaded my good friend, Chloe to join me.
It was a great afternoon and one we'll remember during the freezing days of January.
The other day I saw a trivia question that read, "Where did the bikini get its name?" "Oh I know that one", I thought. I was sure it was Brigitte Bardot. I remember my Grandmother talking about her wearing a very skimpy bathing suit - the bikini. But I was wrong. It was designed long before Bardot wore one. The bikini creator, Louis Reard, officially introduced the swimsuit in 1946. He named it after Bikini Island, a place in the South Pacific where the US conducted atomic bomb testing. I'm going on vacation for a week so decided I would put on my bikini, find a great island and work on my tan. On this island, you can even rent a surf board and ride the waves.

I know in my dream world, it's perpetual summer but in my real world, summer will be coming to a close all too shortly. So I decided to catch the last few days I could. Of course I got a new bikini so that was just the excuse I needed to take a break from work.
I went to my favourite travel agency to see if I could get to some hot beach area and found some free beach poses, so that clenched the deal for an island location. I flew right away into Fire Beach, a GREAT name and a GREAT area.
I came upon a huge waterfall that was very refreshing. I stood under it and let the water cascade over me. On a hot day that felt sooooo good.
I lay for awhile in the sun, trying to improve my mediocre tan, while trying not to burn.
Next I came face-to-face with one of the peacocks on the island. He was rather friendly and didn't run away when I knelt in front of him.
I was sitting in the lounge chair for a bit when a stranger walked up the beach and started a conversation. He was dressed rather warmly for the day and I asked why he wasn't in shorts. He started to kick off his shoes at least.
By then, I'd had enough sun and thought I would fly home as it would soon be dark.
It was such a great day! I have my fingers crossed that there will be many many more before I have to pack away the bikinis.
