Let's Dance

Dear Diary:

Have you ever taken dance lessons?  I think it would be interesting to learn a particular dance from someone who really knows how to do it.  But I could never find a partner who was willing to go through with it.  It's a good thing I always have an available partner in my second world.

I called up my friend Sam and cajoled him into going for lessons.  He resisted...big time... but I finally convinced him that it would be fun.  After weeks of practicing, we found a great dance place to try out our moves.  The sign announcing "Dance Party" caught our attention.

 

In my first world, I want to know how to do the tango and some day will accomplish it but for now, dancing at a dance party was just great.

Myers-Briggs Challenge

Dear Diary:

On her blog, Strawberry Singh wrote about personality tests that could reveal to you what type of personality you may have.  The first time I did one of these tests was in university.  We were studying Jung and we all did it for fun.  Since then, I have completed these tests a few times and it always comes out basically the same.

I am an extrovert.  I do know that without taking any test.  My thinking skills are good, while I tend to be intuitive.  One test describes my type as being "clever and innovative, while being ingenious at problem solving".  I do think about things a lot and I do try to solve problems without getting too involved.  Logic seems to help in these situations.

Hmmm....I do sound pretty good as a person but you haven't seen my other side yet.  That's calling for another post!

International Women's Day 2019

Dear Diary:

Every year, March 8th is celebrated as International Women's Day.  This day is important in more than 100 countries and is acknowledged in many countries as a holiday for women.  

The colour of the day this year is purple.

Canada's theme is #InnovateForChange, with a technological approach, STEM.  It stands for science, technology, engineering and math.  The idea is to create a more equal world by taking away the hurdles that women face in STEM.  Only a third of the graduates in STEM are women.  Let's make our girls, our friends, our daughters feel they can be in STEM and be successful.

Here are some things to do to celebrate Women's Day:
- Participate in a Women's Day event
- Learn more about women in your community who have made a contribution in STEM
- Encourage women you know to look at technology as an option for further education.

How Many Pancakes Can I Eat Today?

Dear Diary:

Today is Shrove Tuesday...or Fat Tuesday...or Pancake Day!  For supper I'll make pancakes with maple syrup and enjoy every mouthful.  

This stack is too much for me.  I could probably eat 3 pancakes that size.  It depends how hungry I am.

Today also signifies the beginning of Lent so now I'll have to think of something to give up for the days til Easter.  Hmmm....I've used broccoli too many times....never chocolate...maybe lima beans this year....got it!

A Destination Wedding Is Perfect For This Time of Year

Dear Diary:

I like going out to The Trunk Show.  I enjoy looking at the different types of wedding dresses and thinking of what I could put together for a regal outfit.  However, this time it seems I had intervention.

When I brought in the mail,  I noticed an official looking envelope hidden by all the bills.  It was an invitation to my cousin's wedding.  She was getting married in the Dominican Republic...a destination wedding!  I knew what kind of wedding dress I could buy.

Something casual; cool with a nice pair of flip flops is perfect for the beach.  

The destination idea appeals to me right now.  I could get out of this cold weather!

This Is The Glamorous Me

Dear Diary:

It's fun to be and to look glamorous.  I think I've been that way a few times in my first world.  I used to model so, at times,  I did have sccess to some fascinating clothes to wear. But the last few years, I've adopted a more casual approach to clothing and I enjoy that.  Sometimes I can look "glamorous" in jeans and a tee. 

Awhile ago, I picked up a pose prop by Exposeur that made me a cover girl.  Fantastic! Now I had to be on the hunt for the perfect dress and accessories to make me into the role.

After I managed to get everything together, I was ready to jump into the magazine cover.  Wow!  I instantly became a cover girl!

It was great fun to achieve that fashion status for one brief picture.  I think about it as I'm sitting here in my jeans and tee.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Every year I start out this post by saying, "I'm not much of a Valentine's Day fan" and it's true.  I'm not into all the hype for buying expensive presents or flowers or even going out to the trendiest restaurant in town.  Those things can be given any day of the year and should be for pleasant surprises.  However, the one thing I give credit to St Valentine for (tongue in cheek) is the wide variety of candy available on this day.

Ah yes...take your favourite person out for a delicious dinner or surround them with roses.  Just leave me at home with my candy and we'll all be happy that it's St Valentine's Day.

Let's Get Out Of The Snow And Cold

Dear Diary:

Yesterday the temperature in my part of the world went up.  Not enough for outdoor sports, especially snowmobiling.  That's ok with me as I'm not a big fan of that sport but a lot of my friends are.

In my second world, I can fly to any weather I want to so my friend Chloe decided we should find some snow and try out her new ski-doo.

It was more fun than in real life but since Chloe can't drive very well, I had to direct her along the path.

I Consider This A Deep Freeze

Dear Diary:

It's been very cold in my part of the world.  The past two days I've awakened to -35 C.  Now there isn't much of a wind but enough to make you think you're naked.  I have a down jacket and it wasn't a lot of protection.

In my second world I thought that putting on a bikini and flying to a tropical island would help.  Tried it...didn't work...put on the down jacket.

It's supposed to warm up tomorrow.  The high for the day will be around -20C.  Oh boy!  A heat wave!

It's National Pizza Week For Me

Dear Diary:

Of all food that I could eat, at any time, it's pizza so when I saw this week celebrated this awesome food, I wanted to help the celebration!  I like any kind of pizza but my favourite at the restaurant is a Greek pizza with lots of black olives, feta cheese, green pepper and tomato.  My mouth is watering as I'm typing this.  If I make it at home, I like a chicken, artichoke pizza with 3 kinds of cheese.  Yummy!  But then a simple cheese pepperoni pizza is 2 thumbs up too.

I've eaten pizza for breakfast, lunch and supper and no matter what time, it's always delicious.  So observe Pizza Week by eating it at any time of day.

#SecondLifeChallenge - Then And Now

Dear Diary:

Strawberry Singh brought back her Challenge for this week and I was so happy she did.  Back in 2015, she did a Then and Now Challenge showing how we had evolved over the years.  I did the Challenge and you can see my post here.  Oh how I've changed in just 3 years!

Back in 2010, I was rather limited of what I could do with myself.  Now with the application of mesh bodies and heads; advanced cosmetics and skins; and stylish hair, I'm turning into a more realistic being.  The creators of these items that make us look good have enhanced us all.

This was a fun Challenge.  It's interesting looking back on what was, but it's more fun to think of what the future holds for us in our Second Life.

A Definite Clean-Up Is Required

Dear Diary:

I usually leave all my Christmas decorations up (including the tree) until after Epiphany.  I like to enjoy them past Christmas Day and it brightens up my house.  Epiphany was yesterday, January 6th so now I'm forced to put everything away.

I called Sam and asked if he would stop by on his way home from work today and help me carry the boxes of decorations down to the basement and give me a hand in tidying up.

He did stop by...when I was almost finished.

He did come with coffee...for himself...holding a coffee cup that said "Good Vibes".  Funny I just wasn't feeling it.

However he did put the boxes away for me so in the end it was a big help.

Everything in my home looks dull now.  Maybe it's time for some new furniture.

Early Morning Hot Chocolate

Dear Diary:

Well Christmas Day is done; Boxing Day is over; and New Year's Day is yet to come, but for now I have time to sit and relax for a bit.

Early morning, Sadie, my dog and I sat and looked out over the sim.  It was quiet and the sun was just coming up so we had a bonding moment.

I love this onesie from Mel Imako.  My feet are always cold so these jammies keep them nice and toasty.  I applied a Christmas motif since I'm really not finished with the season yet.  Coincidentally, the texture I bought also matches the textures in my headband.  A bonus!!

I really didn't want to get up off the couch but I knew I had to go out to pick up groceries for my next big dinner.  Does it never end???

Decorating the tree

Dear Diary:

Sam did carry in the tree for me and put it up on the stand.  I was grateful for this since I have a big tree and I never seem to be able to get it straight.  The two of us managed a straight and elegant tree.

So last night I went to the basement and got all the decorations out.  I don't have a "themed" tree.  I collect different ornaments and put them on every year so it's kind of another diary for me.

After the decorations are up....I guess I have a start at the wrapping.

Dear Diary:

I enjoy having a fresh Christmas tree in my house, no matter what world it is.  I support the environmental issues and buy from a tree farm.  The trees are specifically raised for that type of tree and provide income for an entrepreneur.

Having said all that, I cajoled Sam to come out and help me get a tree.

I picked out a great one this year from Toshi Farms.  I'm going to get Sam while he's still in a HO HO HO mood, to come over and help me put it up.

I'm Glad This Week Is Over

Dear Diary:

Oh yes!  I participated in this week just as much as all the avid shoppers did.  It started with Black Friday.  It was not a super early morning but I was in the stores by 6:30am.  I was tired by supper and because I got a lot of good deals, I figured I was 80% done.  However, in the Monday morning newspaper, I noticed that a lot of Black Friday specials were still going on so after work I popped into the mall.  That led to Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings too.  Fine!  It's Saturday and I am DONE!  Well....not really but I'm not going to the mall ...until next week.

Of course there was Second World shopping too.

I'm not going to talk about that shopping experience since it's obvious how much I spent.
