Dear Diary:
The news still flourishes with pictures and stories from the horrific tornado that devastated Moore, OK. My heart breaks when I see the homes destroyed, lives uprooted and families broken. I can't imagine what these people are going through or what horrible trauma they've endured.
Yes, I live where we have raging snow storms that can shut down the city...but I still have my home. Right, I've put away the ugly pictures of me and my brothers taken when we had braces and stringy hair...but those photos are available in my closet to bring out for memories. Of course, I've hidden the ugly vase that has been past down from Great Aunt Tilly...but I have family items to keep.
Things that can't be lost by anyone, at any time are family, friends and loved ones. Those are what everyone holds as most precious and when taken from us, they're gone forever. How do you recover from that?
My thoughts, prayers and hopes fly to those strong families in Oklahoma who, though experiencing extreme difficulty, are looking ahead.
Good Night for now.

My Autumn in Soho
Dear Diary:
When I read that this week the colour challenge was "Autumn in Soho", did I think England? Nope. I thought New York. And that thought lead to "Autumn in New York", a romantic movie I saw on television one night and where I cried my eyes out because of the sad ending. That passed along my brain to the borough outside of Manhattan called Soho. I know, I know...strange thought processes but that's the way I work it!
I did honestly spend a wonderful autumn week in New York and managed to take a drive through Soho so I hope that qualifies me to use the title I gave this post.
Good Night for now.
I'm wearing:

Where Will You Be Wearing Your Towel?
Dear Diary:
Saturday, May 25th, is Towel Day. The day marks the annual celebration for the author, Douglas Adams (1952-2001)
Adams was not a prolific writer but produced some interesting reading. His best known work is "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", published as a trilogy. Following this, Adams wrote a short series called, "Dirk Gentley's Holistic Detective Agency". He also wrote three episodes for the television series "Doctor Who".
Adams often inserted comedy and satire into his writings but he was also very serious about environmental issues and encouraged a preservation of the earth. Being a conservationist, he wrote "Last Chance to See", concerning the extinction of species.
Adams died on May 11, 2001 being only 49 years of age. Two weeks after his death, fans organized a tribute to him, Towel Day, which has been observed every year since then.
How do people celebrate Towel Day? A complete list of things going on can be found here.
Everyone can pick up their free towel at the Marketplace, thanks to the generosity and creativeness of Uccello Poultry [blog].
So whether you wear it at the Club, at the beach, or on the street, grab one and celebrate in your own way.
Good Night for now.

A New Store to Me #5
Dear Diary:
I found a new store that has a delightful selection of clothes for women on the go. I came upon Koko's Closet quite by accident. Shopping wasn't on the agenda for the day but I decided to stop my travels to have a look around. Right before me was a charming store so I thought I would take a peek inside.
The store's features are described as spotlighting "comfortable, classic, casual clothes for women" and that defines it perfectly.
I found a nice array of summer items. There is an excellent range of colours for the capris, with tops for a mix or match look. A variety of sundresses in monochromatic or pastel colours are featured. I particularly liked the metallic leggings, which I bought for my next night out. There's also some exceptional accessories, from sunglasses, scarves and purses to sexy lingerie.
It was really difficult to pick something to highlight the shop but I absolutely loved this silk dress in a sunny yellow. The awesome bonus is the mesh fit me perfectly without the need for alterations.
On your next shopping trip, stop by at Koko's Closet and see what they have.
Good Night for now.

Simply Cider for Mother's Day
Dear Diary:
Mothers deserve a day devoted entirely to themselves. A day at the spa perhaps. Or time spent for a manicure. Even an entire day of total self-indulgence. Now what world does THAT happen in? So now let's get real!
To all the mothers who are grocery shopping, cooking meals, changing diapers, doing laundry, washing kids, cleaning up, ironing and helping with homework, on top of putting gas in the car, raking the lawn, taking out the garbage, and paying the bills, in addition to being doctor, lawyer, counsellor, minister, and computer technician, I say CONGRATULATIONS ON A JOB WELL DONE!

A New Exhibit by Mathilde Vhargon
Dear Diary:
I've posted news on Mathilde Vhargon's wonderful digital art before. I admire her work very much so I decided to feature her latest exhibit at the Cuauhnahuac Gallery.
Inside the foyer, there is a poster of Mathilde. Click it to find a copy of her bio, a little about her paintings and where she has exhibits of her work.
This last piece is my favourite from the new display.
Mathilde's signature mark is a leaf, in various forms or colours that she incorporates into all her paintings. Can you find it?
I have gone to all of Mathilde's exhibits and think that this one is the best she's done. The colours are outstanding and every piece portrays a thought provoking response.
Try to visit the Cuauhnahuac Gallery when you can. The building itself is wonderful to visit and has a sense of serenity when walking through the rooms. Mathilde's show is on the main floor and on the second is a very interesting display by Antenna Rae.
Good Night for now.

Mathilde enjoys using primary colours in her digital art and it always amazes me how she manages to put it all together while maintaining aesthetic quality. As a true artist, Mathilde compels the viewer to put their own meanings to each picture, regardless of the title.

It's a Day for Pine's Dawn
Dear Diary:
The Twisted Colour Challenge was perfect for me this week, along with a pose I had, and here's why!
I'm an early riser. I'm up at dawn most mornings - weekends or vacation days - it doesn't matter.
When I wake up, I have a routine that I follow. I get out of bed and go to the kitchen to turn on the coffee. Then I jump in the shower. After that, the coffee is ready so I grab the first cup of the day. I turn on the television and watch the news. By then I've drunk the coffee so I make myself some toast, pour another cup and settle down for more news.
Up at dawn - favourite jammies are green - necessary coffee! What more could a girl ask for?
Good Night for now.

I'm a True Taurean
Dear Diary:
Ah yes! As we enter the 30th to 50th degree of the zodiac, between 27.24 and 54.75 degrees of celestial longitude, I realize that we arrive at the second sign. Taurus! And another birthday for me.
People born under this sign make good friends, who are very loyal, considerate and caring. They value their home life, family and are very quick to forgive. They often become professionals, in architecture or medicine but also prove to be good managers, teachers or musicians.
Of course, Taureans can also be opinionated, argumentative, and egotistical. Yes, they're good natured but when provoked show a quick temper. But none of this applies to me **cough cough**
One of the characteristics of Taurus people is love for the outdoors so I flew out to meet some bulls on a farm so we could compare horns.
A recent quote I read is a good description of fellow Taureans:

I Dream of Coastal Nights
Dear Diary:
For some reason, the thought of "Coastal Nights" made me think of Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, who starred together in "Casablanca" made in 1942. It was my great aunt's favourite film and I watched it with her whenever it came on television. The movie was so romantic [at least to a young girl], that I wanted to act on the memory of that movie. Consequently, I went for a retro look for the colour challenge this week.
The film took place on the coast of Morocco in the city of Casablanca, which now has a population of over 3 million people. The city has a Mediterranean climate, warm and sunny during the day, with the coast being cooled by currents off the Atlantic Ocean. As I look out the window at the piles of snow that I got on Friday, I AM dreaming of coastal nights!

Know When to Relax
Dear Diary:
I love dark chocolate. Yesterday I opened one of my favourite chocolates, the ones with the sayings inside, and the printed message jumped out, "Know When to Relax". It was speaking to me!
Yes, I go to aerobics. Yes, I lift weights. I do all the exercises that are good for me but that just gets me pumped up. A friend suggested I try yoga for the ultimate in a restful evening.

These pictures make me look super good at yoga, thanks to Coco Creations, but unlike the masterful poses you see here, I've discovered in my first life I'm totally inflexible. Totally!! Instead of making me relaxed, I was rolled up in knots.
OK...tried it. I found out yoga was hard work. So back to the chocolate and looking for a better message.
Good Night for now.

And What is Peony's Secret?
Dear Diary:
Let me break this combination down:
PEONY: I really like this flowering shrub. I have several in my garden. Unfortunately ants love them too. I wish I could cut them and bring them into the house but that would be like inviting the ants to a picnic.
SECRET: I'm very good at keeping secrets. When I'm told not to tell, I don't! But do I have secrets? Doesn't everybody?
So...think I've covered the Twisted Colour Challenge for this week. Let's hope Sookie doesn't have a new colour next week called, "Name Your Secrets".

A New Store to Me #4
Dear Diary:
The other day I was shopping and came upon a store that was "new to me". It's called :::podium:::. and the owner / creator of these fabulous designs is nelsat kanya. The store features all mesh clothes, casual but with a quirky taste which I love.
The off-shoulder tee that I'm wearing, comes in a large variety of colours, all with different images and sayings. I picked up a couple since the price was so reasonable.

I added skinny jeans in coral as it will be spring one of these days and it brought out the colours in the tee very well. The jeans also come in many bright, springy colours, as well as a good selection of traditional denim shades.
It was really hard to decide what to feature from this store. There's a cute hooded dress that I really loved. Again the colour choices were numerous. The skirts were trendy and flirty and would go with any top, while a featured dress was perfect for a job interview or could be dressed up with jewelry for a night out.
I decided to also show one of WetCat's items from Pose Fair. The frosted windows in the three sided prop have 6 poses in them, 3 male, 3 female but the poses could be unisex.
Check out Podium in your travels. Bet you can't leave without buying a new outfit.
Good Night for now.

♫Boysenberry Fields Forever♪♪-oops-Wrong Words
Dear Diary:
I love the colour combination for the Twisted Colour Challenge this week. Purple and brown go very well together, even though purple and black seem to be more of a traditional connection.
I also love the taste of boysenberries. I've never tried to grow them but I have picked them. It's easy to get scratched, seeing the berries grow on a vine with lots of thorns. It's worth it!
Good Night for now.

Overcome by Sangria's Shadow
Dear Diary:
Sangria is a wine punch, found typically in Spain or Portugal. It's made up of red wine, honey or sugar, a variety of chopped fruit and sometimes brandy. Often a pop, such as Ginger Ale, is substituted for the brandy. The taste varies depending on what type of fruit or alcohol you use. White wine can be added to the punch also, in place of red wine. I don't really like sangria very much as a drink but I do like it as a colour.
I'm lovin' this Challenge!
Good Night for now.

Up...Up and Away!
Dear Diary:
Ah yes! It's travel time again. Not for fun this time. This time I need to fly for work. I WILL have a good time. I know that. And it WILL be informative. I'll learn. But still...
It's trying to remember everything I need to have. Passport? Laptop? Itinerary? And of course - money? Waiting for the taxi at 4 am, closing my eyes for a few seconds of rest and trying to understand why I need to be at the airport SO early, is beyond my comprehension this early in the morning. Of course it's the Easter weekend so I have to fly out the day before I wanted to because the flights were booked. Wow...I'm working up a headache just thinking of what's ahead.
Next week, when I arrive home, I'll tell everybody about the wonderful time I had and I'll mean it. It's a good thing the preparation fades quickly.
Good Night for now.
I'm wearing:
Hair: W&Y No. 148

Shoes: Aleida Malene pumps (Indian Summer) (no longer available)

Wearing Denim at the Spa
Dear Diary:
Ohhhhh....the thought of going to a spa is a WONDERFUL consideration!! The idea of being pampered, polished and painted certainly appeals to me right now. I'm not sure I would be wearing denim unless it was in a towel but I would wear anything to spend a day being totally indulged.
For the Twisted Colour Challenge this week, I'm wearing something I would wear in my first world. When I put it together, my lives melded into "Ummmm...do I truly have this dress hanging up in my closet?"
**Rummaging through the summer clothes as I type**

Today is the First Day of Spring. Yeah - Right!
Dear Diary:
Spring arrived this morning at 7:02am, or so I heard. I wonder if they forgot my part of the world? Yesterday it snowed - wet, heavy stuff - so it meant waiting for the snow plow to come by, shovelling quickly, so I could get on my way to work. Flowers in my garden are still under a metre of snow so I'm getting the winter blues. Where could I go to get that spring feeling? I'm lucky I have a second world to find a great spring-like place.
I flew out to Izzie's. She transforms her sim to match the season. It's a wonderful place to take pictures, and of course to shop. I had on my winter coat, and boots but to sit under the tree, with apple blossoms, butterflies and a sweet little bird beside me, brought a warm feeling to my mind and a supreme relaxation of all the muscles that ached from the shovelling.
Now if I don't look out the window, or go outside for the next month or two I'll be fine.
Good Night for now.
I'm wearing:
Coat (hood up): !gO! corduroy coat (blue)
Boots: BAX Prestige Boots (blue suede)
