Who Doesn't Love A Sensitive Man?

Dear Diary:

Most women like men who are sensitive and listen to what they want.   Hmmm...where are those men??  So when I saw that I could have a sensitive man beside me anytime I wanted, I jumped at the chance to have him pop up whenever I summoned. 

This guy is really a cute one.  His name is Mike (he tells you that) and he has a lot of appropriate sayings to make you appreciate him.  Mike also comes in Casanova and Bad Boy types which I'm sure are equally entertaining.  

In reality, no one wants to hear all the stuff you WANT to hear so with Mike, you can just put him away for a bit when you are tired of his repertoire.  Then on days when you really need "fluffing" up, bring him out!

A Cold Slice Of Watermelon Tastes So Good

Dear Diary:

The weather has turned hot in both my worlds.  I enjoy the heat - once in awhile - but sometimes it makes me lazy.  A cold glass of lemonade, a quick dip in the lake or a large slice or two of watermelon perks me up.  The watermelon was available so that was the help I needed.

I found this fruit stand in Sundaban.  What a relief to get a cold slice of watermelon after touring the sim.  A great place to visit.  Now to find some shade.

The day is here and the place is starting to fill up.  My friends and family are coming over to celebrate Canada's birthday.  

I've been cooking and cleaning for a few days so it's my day to enjoy the food and fireworks.  The BBQ is already to go and the beer is on ice.

Is This A "Little Shop Of Horrors"?

Dear Diary:

I flew into a flower shop the other day to pick up a bouquet for my home.  I spied this odd looking plant that intrigued me but looked familiar at the same time.  I tried to touch it.

It was so ugly it was cute!  But the results weren't exactly what I was looking for.

And then it came to me = a "Little Shop of Horrors".  It was a off-Broadway play that was turned into a movie several years ago.  The play version was produced in my city and that's where I saw it. 

The story takes place in a run-down flower shop that's about to close.  An unusual plant becomes the focal point when the shop keepers realize the plant can talk.  Unfortunately, the plant grows larger and larger, by feeding on human blood.  

This Venus fly trap is a great reproduction of the real one.

A New Store To Me #19

Dear Diary:

When I was planning my Mother's Day post, I wanted very casual clothing since that was the way I was going to dress.  I happened upon this store, RKKN, that had the type of clothes I liked - casual.  I bought my outfit and picked up some casual summer shorts.  As I was in the women's section, I wanted a summer outfit but couldn't find anything.  Shortly after that, Shiny Shabby released their latest offerings and there it was - a cute summer skirt (in patterns and plains) with coordinating tops with a wide colour choice.  I just had to have it.

Everything at RKKN comes in many colour selections.  All items offered look so comfortable.  I will check back at the store for future additions to their inventory.

Where Are You During Towel Day 2019?

Dear Diary:

Towel Day is celebrated in honour of Douglas Adams, author of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", adapted from a BBC radio show.  Adams was a very talented man, writing episodes for Doctor Who and many other television programs;  writing several more books, including "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency"', as well as co-authoring the "Liff.." series; and he was founder-director for The Digital Village, a company producing interactive games.

I put on my towel and found a great place to celebrate Douglas Adama.

This year I'm memorializing Adams at The Blarney Stone, where the bartender is chatty; the stout comes quickly and, the atmosphere is upbeat.  To see other places I've been in my towel, check the Towel Day label.

TLC For My Plants

Dear Diary:

In my first world, I like to have plants around my house.  It brightens up my home and brings nature inside.  However, I'm not very good at maintaining the TLC and sometimes my plants expire before I can help them.  That doesn't happen in my second world where plants seem to flourish whether I tend to them or not.  In both my worlds, it's reccommended a good misting stimulates the plant and provides a "shower" to help with leaf maintenance.

Well, that job is finished.  Now onto my real world.

A Wedding in May Is The Beginning Of Spring

Dear Diary:

You know how I love wedding dresses.  The Trunk Show appeared and I flew out to see it right away.  I had a hard time deciding what look I was going for.

I think a white wedding dress is always classy looking but a lot of brides, first or second time, are going for a soft colour tinge to their dress.  The blush or soft pink colour is very flattering.

Everything, except the headpiece had a HUD so the flowers can be changed for any dress; and the dress can be worn in several colours as a formal gown or a bridesmaid dress.  Very practical!

Forget The Housework

Dear Diary:

Yesterday was "Don't do housework day" and I took advantage of it.  Usually I do my vacuuming and cleaning on the weekend but not on this past Sunday.  I was astonished I fit into it so easily.

Having a third cup of coffee and brunch in the living room was a treat for me..  I did nothing yesterday and enjoyed every minute of it.

I Knew I Could Find Spring Somewhere

Dear Diary:

My head is in Spring but in reality, I'm not quite there.  Temperatures in my real world are more and more often hitting the + side during the day but at night I still see the minuses.  I want to see flowers in the garden; leaves on the trees; and me in sandals and shorts.

I can always find a spring-like area in my second world but it did take a little searching.  I guess my desire to get rid of the snow must be tempered for a while.  But I did find a wonderful place to visit, and see a newly planted garden.

When I saw the Bloom Event advertised, I jumped at the chance to do a little shopping for everything I wanted..  Spring at last!!

Let's Dance

Dear Diary:

Have you ever taken dance lessons?  I think it would be interesting to learn a particular dance from someone who really knows how to do it.  But I could never find a partner who was willing to go through with it.  It's a good thing I always have an available partner in my second world.

I called up my friend Sam and cajoled him into going for lessons.  He resisted...big time... but I finally convinced him that it would be fun.  After weeks of practicing, we found a great dance place to try out our moves.  The sign announcing "Dance Party" caught our attention.

 

In my first world, I want to know how to do the tango and some day will accomplish it but for now, dancing at a dance party was just great.

Myers-Briggs Challenge

Dear Diary:

On her blog, Strawberry Singh wrote about personality tests that could reveal to you what type of personality you may have.  The first time I did one of these tests was in university.  We were studying Jung and we all did it for fun.  Since then, I have completed these tests a few times and it always comes out basically the same.

I am an extrovert.  I do know that without taking any test.  My thinking skills are good, while I tend to be intuitive.  One test describes my type as being "clever and innovative, while being ingenious at problem solving".  I do think about things a lot and I do try to solve problems without getting too involved.  Logic seems to help in these situations.

Hmmm....I do sound pretty good as a person but you haven't seen my other side yet.  That's calling for another post!

International Women's Day 2019

Dear Diary:

Every year, March 8th is celebrated as International Women's Day.  This day is important in more than 100 countries and is acknowledged in many countries as a holiday for women.  

The colour of the day this year is purple.

Canada's theme is #InnovateForChange, with a technological approach, STEM.  It stands for science, technology, engineering and math.  The idea is to create a more equal world by taking away the hurdles that women face in STEM.  Only a third of the graduates in STEM are women.  Let's make our girls, our friends, our daughters feel they can be in STEM and be successful.

Here are some things to do to celebrate Women's Day:
- Participate in a Women's Day event
- Learn more about women in your community who have made a contribution in STEM
- Encourage women you know to look at technology as an option for further education.

How Many Pancakes Can I Eat Today?

Dear Diary:

Today is Shrove Tuesday...or Fat Tuesday...or Pancake Day!  For supper I'll make pancakes with maple syrup and enjoy every mouthful.  

This stack is too much for me.  I could probably eat 3 pancakes that size.  It depends how hungry I am.

Today also signifies the beginning of Lent so now I'll have to think of something to give up for the days til Easter.  Hmmm....I've used broccoli too many times....never chocolate...maybe lima beans this year....got it!

A Destination Wedding Is Perfect For This Time of Year

Dear Diary:

I like going out to The Trunk Show.  I enjoy looking at the different types of wedding dresses and thinking of what I could put together for a regal outfit.  However, this time it seems I had intervention.

When I brought in the mail,  I noticed an official looking envelope hidden by all the bills.  It was an invitation to my cousin's wedding.  She was getting married in the Dominican Republic...a destination wedding!  I knew what kind of wedding dress I could buy.

Something casual; cool with a nice pair of flip flops is perfect for the beach.  

The destination idea appeals to me right now.  I could get out of this cold weather!
