Is Wales the National Colour of Wales?

Dear Diary:

I really don't know if this is the national colour although this green seems to be represented in the flag.  However, when I was looking I found a reference to the very colourful village of Portmeirion, Wales.  There are many colours displayed there. 

But I need to focus on the moment. Here is my Wales.

Archery and the Movies

Dear Diary:

The Olympic Games start this weekend and that brought to mind a sport that has really been in the shadows but is finally coming out due to a popular book / movie.  Can you guess what it is?  Yes, it's archery.  Even though archery is an ancient sport, it wasn't until "The Hunger Games" that interests were peaked towards the event.

In that movie, the heroine showed her ability using a bow and arrow, prompting women to want to learn more about the  finesse and rules of the sport and to join archery clubs.

Another movie with a female hero and an expert archer is "Brave".  Even though it's animated, it certainly portrays a good role model for young girls and also gives them the desire to try the sport.

I have tried my hand at archery in both
worlds.  Here I'm at the Archery Range in
Morris.  I don't have the concentration or
eye to be even passable at this sport and I really admire the men and women in this event, representing their countries at the Olympics.  I certainly will watch this event with a new admiration.

Dear Diary:

I love this time of year - wearing cool clothes, swimming in the lake, sitting on the deck.  Ah yes...too soon I'll be hauling out the snow shovels so I better enjoy this while I can.

Persian Rose is so Pretty

Dear Diary:

Pink shades are not my favourite at any time but I found this a very pretty shade of pink.  Even though I'm dressed rather casual, I feel really "girly".  I'm not sure I really hit the colour from Luna's swatch but I think it's pretty close. 

I had a very short but needed vacation.  I'm still hoping to enjoy the time I have left since the weather seems to be co-operating.  I know I'll have sunny days coming up.

Time For a Little Vacay!!

Dear Diary:

Ah yes!  It's that time of year when vacations kick in and it's time to leave work for awhile and enjoy life.  And that's the point I'm at right now.

I really need some time to do the things I want to do.  I know, I know.  There are weekends but they go so fast that I usually try to get caught up on all the necessities.  So officially on Friday I'm on my HOLIDAYS!!  I decided I would take a few days away with friends and do some shopping, eat lots and sleep late.  Now that's a VACATION!!

I always like to get away for a bit but when I get home, I still intend on having lazy and relaxing days.

Astronaut Blue

Dear Diary:

The colour for the Challenge this week got me thinking.  Were there any astronauts who wore blue space suits?  Well you know me, I just had to look it up.

Of course white was the most popular because of the reflective properties and orange for visibility but couldn't find anything that mentioned blue.  This is such an awesome colour, I sent a letter off to NASA suggesting a change in their space suit colour-picker.

Happy Independence Day

Dear Diary:

July 4th all my American friends are out celebrating as I did a few days ago, with the fireworks, food and festivities.

Every year I wear this favourite tee of mine to show the bond between our two countries.  I love this tee and was so fortunate to get it as it's no longer available.

Since 1959, the International Freedom Festival is jointly held in Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario in the last week of June as a mutual celebration of our two significant days - Independence Day and Canada Day.

Happy 236th Birthday, USA!  Happy 4th to all my American friends!

What a Perfect Shade of Red for July 1st!

Dear Diary:

Yes, today is a national holiday for Canada.  This day was called Dominion Day but since  the 80's, it's been officially known as Canada Day.

Cadmium Red is great for the Colour Challenge this week because this red is represented in our flag.  I'm sure Luna had all us Canadians in mind when she picked this shade of red for today.  Thanks Luna.

You can be assured I'll be stuffing my face today with all the potato salad, cole slaw, and hot sausages that I can get my hands on.  And...oh...yes...something malty to wash it all down.
