Dear Diary: My strawberry plant has produced the most beautiful red berries...large, sweet, lip-smacking fruit. I was so happy to see that this morning. And it happened at the same time as I'm getting strawberries in my first world.
I do enjoy the strawberry season. It's short but when you eat the ripe berries that have been grown locally and are warmed by the sun, that taste urges you to try more and more. Consequently, I end up with a sore tongue! I like to eat them as is, or dipped in sour cream and then brown sugar. Of course chopped up on cake with whipped cream is good too. I'm salivating just writing about it. It was fun growing this plant and for once I managed to see a plant mature, without killing it. Good Night for now. Dear Diary: I love to travel. Anywhere. Anyhow. Anytime. I picked a great spot for a quick get away - Italy.
It is a terrific place to visit. There are many touristy spots - benches by the sea; artists' areas; and small shops. I'm in the main square where I popped into a local pub for a drink. It was so nice to come from the cool atmosphere of the bar, carry my drink outside so I could sit at a table and people watch. Good Night for now. Dear Diary: It's funny how in the middle of January when the temperature bottoms out at -30C, you want the hot sun, steamy climate and sweaty days. But when they're actually here, all you do is complain about how hot it is. That was me a few days ago. There was nothing I could do to get relief from the heat. I called up Chloe who was suffering just as much as I was and we decided that something cold had to be in our future. We found it!
This little alcove sheltered us a bit from the sizzling sun. The concrete walls helped keep the enclosure cooler. Before stopping we decided to get an ice cream cone but at the store we thought a popsicle would quench our thirst a little better.. I must remember this day next winter. Good Night for now. Dear Diary: A few days ago I went out to the garden bench and found that the flowers on my strawberry plant had been replaced by berries!
They're green right now but I know with some hot weather and bright sun, they'll be red in no time. My mouth is watering thinking about popping them in my mouth. Good Night for now.
