'Tis Saint Paddy's Day today so of course I had to wear green to celebrate. I was very lazy getting dressed so after I put on the lingerie, I had to sit on my window seat and stare out the window.

It's a dull rainy day and I'm waiting patiently for spring to come so I can see the flowers in my window boxes. Of course the rain will wash away some of the snow. I guess that's a plus.

I noticed the birch doesn't have any buds yet. They're always a little slower but when they start getting a greeny crown I know that it really is spring. The elm is still holding on to some fall leaves. I guess I really am looking forward to spring.
Well, no use wishing the day away. I need to get dressed in more green, get out the door, and start enjoying the St. Patrick's Day festivities - green beer and sausages!
Hmmm....wonder if I can find a 4-leaf clover under the snow? Good Night for now.

I love all shades of brown. The earthy colours really appeal to me and umber fits right in to that category. From checking some sources, I learned that umber can fit into a couple of brownish shades. Raw umber has a sienna touch to it. Umber to me is more of a dull brown and burnt umber is reddish brown. I figure this outfit covers it.

As I've been telling you, I have a wonderful lot overlooking the water, picked a sweet cottage just big enough for me, and now I must furnish it. And THAT proves to be the hardest thing to do.
I put out some choices for the living room.
I like to have a living room that feels very comfortable so I tend to go with furniture that looks "over stuffed". The Infinite Living Room has colour changeable furniture so it makes it easy to buy and then change the colour to what you want. That's the problem!! The colour choice!!! I definitely need a desk for my computer and a book shelf for all the books and pictures. Then there's house plants to fit in with everything. Yikes! I'm getting a headache trying to decide.
Moving into the dining room doesn't make it any easier. Dark wood? Light wood? Contemporary? Classic? Matching chairs? Complimentary chairs? Chinese rugs? French aubusson carpets?
Alright! I quit. I piled all the furniture in the dining room and I'm going to start over tomorrow. Decorating a new home is hard work. Think I'll be like Scarlet O'Hara and "think about that tomorrow".
Yes, today is Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day or Fat Tuesday, whatever you call it in your part of the world. For me it's Shrove Tuesday.
Historically, It gets its name from the ritual of shriving. That practice, dating from around 1000 AD, was when faithful church goers confessed their sins to the priest and received forgiveness before Lent. It also marked the beginning of the 40 day fasting period when one could not eat meat, butter, eggs or milk. If a family had these items in the house, they must be used before Lent or be spoiled by the time fasting was up. By adding flour to the items, pancakes were made. I LOVE pancakes and over-indulged myself today too.
I went to my favourite Internet cafe and had a short stack. Wow...I usually have pure Maple syrup but the fruit looked pretty good on it.
I just couldn't help it....I needed to stick my finger in the whipped cream.
I certainly ate my fill. Hmmm...now I have to think of what I'll give up for Lent. I think I've used broccoli once too often!
Good Night for now.

Ecru is one of those colours that I don't have many words for because I like it so much. Everytime I wear an ecru dress I feel classy, cultured and clever! It lends itself to be "girly". And sometimes I like to dress that way. But when I looked in my closet, I didn't have a pretty dress to wear sooooo...
Fortunately Mimikri was having a great sale and I hadn't been shopping in a long time. I picked up this delicate looking dress that I love. It whispers "Elegance". When I stepped outside the house, my neighbour asked me where I bought it so I knew it was a hit. While I was shopping there, I bought the gloves to go with it. Of course what's a new outfit without shoes? I think the flower on the shoes from G Field really adds to the look. Hmmm....then I thought a spectacular hat would be the crowning finish. Mauve Binder from MB was nice enough to rez a variety of hats for me to look at and I thought this one just went so well with the whole outfit. It was a satisfying shopping trip for sure.
Good Night for now.

Last week I told you I was looking for a new house. I found one that I love and totally fits ME. But I had to move from my old place in a hurry so I didn't have time to clean out the junk I've accumulated in the past few years. So, that's what I had to do before the furniture could be put in.
It took me forever to look through all the stuff. I usually talk to myself to make it easier to toss stuff out. I am a pack rat. "Oh no! Can't throw that out. I bought that book in Grade 10 for Mr. Smith's History class!" "Let's see...size 2...well maybe I can get into that next year."
I was smiling when I finally got the first load out to the garbage bin.
I didn't realize how many paper items I had to recycle.
YAAAAAY!!!! Even though the snow was up to my ankles, I was thrilled to get all the old stuff out and to make room for all the new.
Good Night for now.

You know how the saying goes - if you're given lemons, you make lemonade - so what do you get with a bunch of limes?
Lime juice? LimeWire, the-under-a-court-injunction download company? LIME the Caribbean's leading communications company? Key Lime pie? Lime, the fertilizer for your flowers? Birdlime, the sticky stuff that can be smeared on branches to capture small birds? Limestone, a kind of rock? Limelight, being the centre of attention? Chlorinated lime, a disinfectant? Lime, a fanfiction? Lyme disease? (Ooops...wrong spelling)
Since coming to this world, I have lived in an apartment, moved to a condo, rented a two story "box", and when that sim closed, moved to a villa, a beach house and finally a brownstone. I was talking to my friend Chloe, and since she lives in a huge house, she convinced me it was time to buy my own house - with her advice of course.
She went to Ramos' prefabs to scout out the possibilites.
Their houses are really great! There's a wide variety of styles and sizes and they're furnished with Ramos' lovely furniture to give you an idea of how they look when they're lived in. Ramos also offer some extras with their homes like lighting, security and a $500 gift certificate towards purchases from their store.
The houses here could be rezzed so that I could walk in and see the actual size. You could also purchase a footprint at no cost to see if it could fit on the land. The colours and details in each building were awesome. I particularly loved the large windows.
I met Chloe at La Galleria. There's an amazing number of house sizes to choose from with quite a low prim count for each.
The houses here are furnished too and I must admit that adds to the ambiance when looking for a place. La Galleria offers a discount on kitchen or bathroom fixtures when you buy a house from them.
I have to think long and hard about all of the wonderful places I saw. The decision is going to be very difficult to make.

Teal is my LEAST favourite colour in any world but I did have a couple of things in my closet that fit the 52 weeks of colour challenge so that had to be it!
I wondered what I could use as an example of teal since I know it can be "blue-green" or "green-blue". Hmmm...is there a difference? I knew about Teal Ducks so thought I would check them out.
Winter can seem very long and drawn-out. When the snow first flies, it's pretty and I really enjoy it but by February my patience with the white stuff has gone. By then, I'm through my thrill of shovelling and I've lost the excitement of watching the snow swirl around outside. To pass the time, I try to do as many winter sports as I can. My fav is down-hill skiing.
I found this great place to go skiing. I took the lift up to the lodge and started out from there. It's very picturesque with a slalom run to try. However, I decided to try another run.
"Hmmm...I wonder if I can do this," I think [looking at the sign with trepidation]
Another activity that I love to do is snow shoeing.
When the weather is a little milder, I like to put on my snow shoes to forge through the forest area with deep snow. This is REALLY getting back to nature!
When the trek is over, it's nice to sit by an open fire, getting all toasty and warm.
Outside activities really help to fill in those long winter days.
Good Night for now.

A few weeks back I lost a friend. And when I say lost, I mean lost - forever. She did not disappear. She did not evolve into a new identity. She died. When I received the notecard telling me of her passing, I felt cold. I felt shock. I felt numb. I sat with my fingers on the keyboard with thoughts racing through my brain. What exactly was I feeling? I never knew her true name. But when seeing her name pop up on my friends' list, I knew her. I knew little of her background and yet I knew the life she shared with her partner on a beautiful island in a rambling house. I never heard her voice but I could sense the laughter and friendliness when we were together. So what did I know?
I knew her profession, one of caring and consideration, that definitely passed on to our other world. She always asked how I was, and what was new in my life. She was a great listener and was willing to take the time to hear my rantings and ravings and always had a positive spin on the situation that made me look at things in a different way.
I knew the state she lived in and although we didn't share the same country, views on politics or thoughts on international affairs, we did share much the same weather! And we both could commiserate about that!
I knew she had children. They were grown-up but she was very proud of them and often mentioned about the accomplishments of each.
I knew she was very ill.
Yes, I didn't know a lot about her, but I considered her my friend...a good friend. I will miss seeing her name in bold, miss the conversations and miss her friendship.

My Grandmother had a Billie Holiday record that she often played and I thought of it when I was doing this picture.
"A smile on my face A song on my lips Pretending is all I do I'm painting the town red To hide a heart that's blue
I stay with the crowd I play with the crowd But oh, if they only knew I'm painting the town red To hide a heart that's blue
Must I go on carrin' on? My merry song is just pretend Loving you so, wanting you so Where will it end, how will it end?
A smile on my face A song on my lips But never forgetting you I'm painting the town red To hide a heart that's blue" (I'm Painting the Town Red by Billie Holiday) Maybe that's an appropriate song for Valentine's Day too. Who knows?

I was thrilled when Luna announced that the colour for this week would be black. I have tons in my closet. "This will be so easy", I thought. HA! This was probably the most difficult since it was so hard to choose which outfit to feature.
Black is so elegant. My Grandmother always said that if you wear black and pearls, you can go anywhere and look like you belong.
Black can herald many things. There are black tie affairs, that signify a semi-formal / formal event. It can indicate someone is in mourning. Before the 1960's most sisters in a convent wore a black habit. I even discovered that in some places a black bandana shows allegiance to a gang.
I roughly counted over 20 movies with black in the title (Black Swan; Creature from the Black Lagoon; Meet Joe Black for a few); over 30 book titles (Black Beauty; Black Dahlia; Death by Black Hole as example) and 70+ music titles ( Back in Black; The man in Black; Black Velvet to cite a bit). Enough trivia for today!
Needless to say, I love black and was so happy to do this colour! Good Night for now.

It's Super Bowl Sunday!! I love this day! Not only for the game [what happened to da Bears??] but for the BBQ, salad, desserts and beer. And who will be the champs?? Hmmm....Steelers have already won 6 times; the Packers 3...but I think the Pack is HUNGRY this time around... I always wanted to know how it would feel to throw around a football in front of a huge crowd so I went out to Rutgers Stadium. I had to dress the part and wear my hair to rival Matthews and Polamalu.
I tried throwing.
I caught it and ran for the goal.
Sooooo close now.....almost there.
TOUCHDOWN!! I went crazy and the crowd went wild!
Wow! How thrilling for me! Now I can really get into the game.

Today is the Lunar New Year or as it's often called, the Chinese New Year. This year's symbol is the rabbit, the 4th animal in the 12 year cycle of the Chinese zodiac.
"People born in the Year of the Rabbit are articulate, talented, and ambitious. They are virtuous, reserved, and have excellent taste. Rabbit people are admired, trusted, and are often financially lucky. They are fond of gossip but are tactful and generally kind. Rabbit people seldom lose their temper. They are clever at business and being conscientious, never back out of a contract. They would make good gamblers for they have the uncanny gift of choosing the right thing. However, they seldom gamble, as they are conservative and wise. They are most compatible with those born in the years of the Sheep, Pig, and Dog." (from Chinese Culture Center)
One of the colours associated with this sign is Aqua so I picked an appropriate dress for visiting the beautiful Pear Garden.
The hair from Plume was a wonderful addition to this dress.
