Dear Diary: I love the colour this week for the Colour Challenge. The green is very subtle and refreshing, a lot like juniper trees. Although I don't have any junipers around my area, I've been told they can be much like my cedar trees. If they have the same sweet smell, that certainly is a bonus.
And of course today I'm wearing a poppy for Remembrance Day. It's a reminder to never forget the women and men who have given so much for our countries, no matter where you live. Good Night for now. When I was thinking what to write for coral, I decided to do a search to see what words of wisdom I could add but since nothing seemed to be coming into my brain, I typed "brain" and I hit the jack pot!! I found "brain coral"!! This is a coral, a living colony of polyps that form a unit that really looks like our brain. At night the tentacles reach out to catch food and in the day, the tentacles wrap themselves over the surface for protection. I really think brain coral works more efficiently than brain Dreamer.

I don't normally need to deliver a lot of presents in my first world. I visit friends on Christmas Eve and take their gifts over with me but most of my presents for family I leave under my tree. Then everyone comes on Christmas Day for pressies and turkey. But the few I do deliver provides a lot of fun.
Ah yes. I've gone off the road a few times; had car trouble once; flat tire at least once and of course had many anxiety attacks along the way. This year will be different. We don't have a lot of snow so I don't think I'll run into the usual problems. Wow...do you think things could run that smoothly? Let's hope so.
I'm not much on the hunts that go on in my other world. And it's not that I don't like to participate but I just don't have the patience or the perceptiveness to be searching for hours for a tiny package that's hidden in the rafters. One thing I like to do, is fly to a few select stores and flip the appropriate day on the Advent Calendar. Maybe it's because in my first world home, I have two Advent Calendars - one that shows the remaining days til Christmas and the other does the reverse, counting down by the date. That way, when I panic seeing how many days left, I can calm down by looking at the other showing the actual date. I know, I know...how intellectually deficient can I be.
I've found some great things when I open those decorated boxes each day,
and many thanks to the stores who provide me with these gifts.
I have a few more weeks to go and my closet is gradually getting full to the "can't close the door" stage. I'll show you a few more soon.

I guess I'm still on school thoughts since my last post.
One year, I asked my Dad to buy me a car. He laughed and said, "If you need a car that badly, then start saving for one." That got me on track. I decided I would do a few simple things:
I would divide the things I needed vs the things I wanted ....ugggghhh....that was hard to do. Tim Horton's coffee vs the grocery store variety; Ben and Jerry's ice cream vs Breyer's; and...sniff...a car vs the bus.
I kept a notebook of what I spent so I could be aware of where the money went. That made me aware of what I had to cut down on. Fortunately, a bus pass wasn't that expensive.
The car? Ah yes. I still couldn't afford it when I graduated but since I looked after my income so well, it wasn't long after that I could go out and buy a beautiful second fourth hand VW.
Yes, today is Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day or Fat Tuesday, whatever you call it in your part of the world. For me it's Shrove Tuesday.
Historically, It gets its name from the ritual of shriving. That practice, dating from around 1000 AD, was when faithful church goers confessed their sins to the priest and received forgiveness before Lent. It also marked the beginning of the 40 day fasting period when one could not eat meat, butter, eggs or milk. If a family had these items in the house, they must be used before Lent or be spoiled by the time fasting was up. By adding flour to the items, pancakes were made. I LOVE pancakes and over-indulged myself today too.
I went to my favourite Internet cafe and had a short stack. Wow...I usually have pure Maple syrup but the fruit looked pretty good on it.
I just couldn't help it....I needed to stick my finger in the whipped cream.
I certainly ate my fill. Hmmm...now I have to think of what I'll give up for Lent. I think I've used broccoli once too often!

Last week I told you I was looking for a new house. I found one that I love and totally fits ME. But I had to move from my old place in a hurry so I didn't have time to clean out the junk I've accumulated in the past few years. So, that's what I had to do before the furniture could be put in.
It took me forever to look through all the stuff. I usually talk to myself to make it easier to toss stuff out. I am a pack rat. "Oh no! Can't throw that out. I bought that book in Grade 10 for Mr. Smith's History class!" "Let's see...size 2...well maybe I can get into that next year."
I was smiling when I finally got the first load out to the garbage bin.
I didn't realize how many paper items I had to recycle.
YAAAAAY!!!! Even though the snow was up to my ankles, I was thrilled to get all the old stuff out and to make room for all the new.
