The Vibrance of Velvet Jazz

Dear Diary:

I never cared for jazz too much.  I just couldn't get into it.  Then I heard Pat Metheny, a guitarist who has been in the forefront of jazz greats for quite awhile and this year won a Grammy for best instrumental jazz album.  All of a sudden, I could appreciate the intricacies of the music.

So the Twisted Colour this week certainly got me movin' n' groovin'!

A New Store to Me #7

Dear Diary:

The other day I came upon a store quite by accident and discovered a gem!

I've tried to take pictures for rainy day climate, using all the tricks and all the fancy gizmos to show rain but I'm not that clever and never seem to get the effects I wanted.  The store, Node+ , takes care of that.

nyagos Kidd is the owner of Node+ and he has umbrellas in a multitude of colours and textures, from 9 plain, 6 "plastic" looks; 6 plaid and several other textures.  The umbrella can be worn in the closed position when waiting for that inclement weather or open to produce either a drizzle or a heavy downpour.  It's so simple.

At first I thought the umbrella was a little pricey but in each pack you get 6 choices and the umbrella works well with poses.

In the store, there's also a weather system.  An item for putting rain on your windows is also available.

It's not a big store but very unique in it's offerings.

Good Night for now.

Dear Diary:

When I saw the title of the colour for the Challenge this week, I thought to myself, "Could I ever be sweet?"  "Not likely," I whispered.  So...I put on a low cut sweater; added some cool shades; and plumped up the lips with a funky paint....and voila!  How sweet is that!

Hanging Clothes on the Line

Dear Diary:

I really like to hang my clothes outside on the line.  My Mom did it; my Grandmother did; and probably everybody else in our neighbourhood.

The other morning I wanted to hang sheets outside before I went to work.  But when I stepped outside the door, I looked up in the sky to see a very overcast atmosphere.  I was debating even putting the laundry out, in case I would come home from work and find them more sopping than when I took them from the washer.  Would they even dry in such dull humid weather? But by afternoon it had heated up.

There's nothing like bringing the sheets in, putting them on the bed and sleeping with the fresh-air smell.  I seem to sleep so much better.

In my second world, rain was also in the forecast.  I went to The Far Away,
A M Radio's wonderful sim to hang the sheets but the sky there also looked foreboding.

The sun was shining when I got there but then I noticed darker clouds on the horizon.  I wanted to check to see if everything was dry so I could take it all in before the rain started...just like in my first world!

Good Night for now.

I Fear That I Won't Be Heard

Dear Diary:

Berry's meme this Monday was so intriguing that I wanted to join in.  What am I afraid of?  What am I haunted by? Well, I'm not afraid of very much at all.  I like cemeteries; I've had pet snakes; and I can look down from high places.  I'm a bit claustrophobic.  Crawling on my hands and knees through a tunnel in Mexico got me sweating profusely and it certainly wasn't the weather.  So I was thinking hard about what would give me have a lot of fear.  Then I remembered...

A few years back I read "Still Life", a book by Joy Fielding.  It's about a young woman, thrown into a coma through an accident.  She hears and comprehends everything that her friends and family say and they are oblivious to the fact she is listening to all the conversations.  She just can't communicate or move.  There's the idea her family may take her off life support as they don't think her brain is functioning.  I remember my heart pounding as I read her frustration.  What if that were me?

THAT'S what my fear is.

Good Night for now.

Dear Diary:

When I put this outfit together for the Twisted Colour Challenge, tennis came to mind so I followed through with that thought.  I'm not sure these colours would be permitted at Wimbledon although the Williams sisters have sure made tennis clothing very trendy.

And ... I certainly don't play tennis very well!

Happy Canada Day! Happy July 4th!

Dear Diary:

Happy birthday Canada!  Happy Independence Day U.S.A!

Every year at this time, I put on this tee.  Of course I celebrate Canada Day on July 1st in all the usual ways - roasted wieners over the bonfire; toasted-to-perfection marshmallows; and lots of potato salad.  It's a great day to spend with friends and family.

But I do have relatives and friends who are Americans and only a few days later on July 4th, they will celebrate Independence Day.  How appropriate that the logo on the front of this shirt is a joint effort of our two flags.

So however you choose to enjoy these days, in whatever country you are in, have a wonderful holiday.

Good Night for now.
