I'm Prepared For The Cold

Dear Diary:

Everyone knows how much I love to shop and one of my favourite events is Shiny Shabby.  I admire all the vendors at this occasion and enjoy seeing what newness they're bringing to us, the customers.  I was not disappointed this round.

I absolutely am crazy for the fur coat by Coco so I had to buy it.  It comes in 5 different colours but the brown one I liked best.  It reminded me of a muskrat coat my Grandmother used to have.  I paired it with a fabulous sweater dress from RAMA. While the dress looks innocent enough from the front, it dips to a low V in the back. So when the coat comes off, I'm ready for the club.  Of course I needed to keep my feet warm in this snowy sim, so the stylish but practical winter boots from monso completed my outfit.

In my first world, I would be wearing a toque and scarf in weather like this but in my second world I can be warm and classy.  My hair style is by Due.  I loved the look of it and the back can sport a small braided tail or a plain one.  I usually like to wear dark hair, mirroring my first life, but this platinum colour just seemed to go with the outfit.

There was just so much I could should buy this time at Shiny Shabby.  I have until February 10th to give it another go.

Good Night for now.

Thinking of How Grateful I Am

Dear Diary:

These past few months have been somewhat difficult for me.  I had an injury to my leg that needed to be fixed by surgery.  The operation didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped so I was caught by surprise.  I had thought I would be out at a party for Hallowe'en; baking my cookies and tarts for Christmas; and serving New Year's dinner to my family and friends.  But that was not to be.  I missed going to work; itched to go shopping in the stores; and longed to go out to a movie.  I just couldn't put any weight on that leg until recently.

I realized I had to ask for help, something an independent soul like me found hard to do.  I appreciated those that could move around quickly on two legs and marvelled how they were able to walk.  I mastered patience, which did not always come easily.    I improved my manners and made sure I welcomed and thanked each friend who made time to assist me.  And finally I'm training myself to walk on two legs once more.

I am a very grateful person.

Good Night for now.

Will The Real Me Please Step Forward?

Dear Diary:

In her New Year blog post, Strawberrry Singh came up with many resolutions that we, her readers, should / could be achieving this year.  I thought that was a fantastic idea since I'm one who makes and promptly breaks any resolve I generate.  I vow to accomplish as many as I can over the next year.

So I decided to tackle #2 on her list - "Try a mesh head and wear it for at least 24 hours".  To me, this really was pushing myself.  I've tried many...and I mean MANY...demos of mesh heads.  They all have their wonderful features and some of the expressions are great for photos BUT once I have the head on, with makeup and hair and the whole thing, I look at myself and I don't see me!  I never seem to be myself and I start to feel squirmy in my own likeness.  However, I wasn't about to break a resolution before I even started so I decided to go forward.

I re-read Berry's #2 careful and decided to follow what she said.  I went to Genesis Lab to have a look at their sale.  The heads were better priced but I decided if I joined the group (for 250L) I could get the Christmas gift and work off that and the skin appliers were free.  I think that was a good plan.  I flew home and applied the new head.  Hmmmm....not me...at least I didn't think so.  But I persevered.  I got up; put on some cute hair; new lipstick; new sweater and stayed like that for 2 days.  So...what do you think????

It kinda grew on me.  I admit after 2 days I didn't mind it.  However, the head didn't come with blinking eyes so the stare got to me after awhile.  I wasn't as happy with the skin as my "own" but that could be remedied.  I seem to look sullen, a bit of attitude with my new look.  But...it wasn't all bad!  Will I wear it all the time? No.  Often? Probably not.  Sometimes? Maybe.  At least I'll keep getting the new demos and I might find one yet that is the real me.

Good Night for now.

A Day To Go Exploring

Dear Diary:

I always like it when Chloe and I can meet up for a sight-seeing trip.  She called me the other day and said she heard of a lovely sim, Lucienne.  She said, "Dress warmly since it's winter there!"  Duhhhh....I'm IN winter Honey!!  Don't need a reminder.

It was lucky that I had just been shopping and had boots and coat to keep myself warm.

Lucienne is a lovely sim.  It is wintery with surrounding snow capped hills.  There is lots to explore, from rural settings to a bustling downtown.  Of course since stores were present, I just had to do some window shopping.

A great time...a scenic sim...with a good friend...what more could you ask for?

Good Night for now.

A New Store To Me #15

Dear Diary:

A week ago I saw a notice about a new store on the grid so I just had to fly out to see it.  Chambre Rose, was a small place with a few items in it.  I did buy this dress since I was impressed with the styling.  It came in other colours but I felt like a "pink" day.

I returned to the store a few days ago and I was surprised to see how the place had expanded.  There were a lot of choices on the main floor - dresses from formal to casual; skirts, tops and coats and all clothing is mesh body compatible.  There is also a Gacha machine.  I did try it for some funky donut earrings but the machine was unable to deliver.  The owner of the shop, Azraellll, or Az,  quickly refunded my money with an apology.  Great customer service!  The top floor has a variety of full perm items.

Az is also on Marketplace but visiting her in-world store provides a true look at the quality of her clothing.

Good Night for now.

We Celebrated "First-Footing" Yesterday.

Dear Diary:

My great grandparents were born in Scotland and continued with many observances when they came to Canada.  My Grandmother maintained the concept of "first-footing".  It was thought that the first person through the door after midnight on New Year's Eve could bring great luck to the household.  But, this person had to be a tall, dark and handsome man.  So I called on Sam to bring all the luck he could to me, for 2016 and I told him, "Don't come as a blonde!"

Blonde or fair haired first footers were not very welcome.  It seems that stemmed from old times when the light haired Vikings invaded Scotland.

First footers should not come empty handed.  Small gifts are appreciated, although my Grandfather always looked for the bottle of scotch!

I remember freezing on New Year's Day in my Grandmother's front porch waiting for my Dad to park the car so he could be a first footer, then my Mom and I could enter the house and get warm.

Thanks for helping Sam, and hopefully this year will be lucky for all of us.

Good Night for now.
